Well, after a long hesitation I finally chose a brand new V2 TT roller instead of a dunerunner for my futur project.


Engine will be the new Zenoah 36mm, I'll keep the stock stroke, and after the break in I will do some porting and add reed valve, as for the pipe, I will make my own based on my engine specification and my target RPM.

OBR has something in the works for 4 bolt Zen Cases, that looks to be nothing short of pure awesomeness.

For the drive train, I plan on some hard upgrade for it, I begin in comparing with some of my stuff laying around here to work my brain and have some idea in mind, some part will be made on the lathe, lots of working time for sure, but for cheap.I'm not in a hurry whit this since there is more than 3 feets of snow here and a lot more to come, so i will update slowly this thread till the spring.

Nop, this is an old hpi 5B diff, bevel mesh almost perfectly but can't be used, this is just for comparison and brain work.

Engine done.....Next step is to machine a new layshaft, first part will be one piece 4140, however I have to buy a very expensive tool to drill hexagonal bore, I wonder if it was worth it.........

Today I have take some time to work on the Redcat, not much work but if I want to drive it someday I have to work on it..... Well, I put some shim between the two bearing on the ''B'' shaft to be able to tight the B and C gear properly.I also make a steel ''D'' shaft, I make it very simple, I've drilled a 8mm hole in a piece of 4140 round bar and welded it to the first shaft, then I've drilled a 10mm step about 8mm deep at the other end to adapt the pinion and put 2 set screw to hold it together, the pinion fit very very tight in the piece, I had pressed strongly in the jaw to fit in the shaft. Later I will make that part better If I can find a cheap way to make an hexagonal bore.

Today I have take some time to work on the Redcat, not much work but if I want to drive it someday I have to work on it.....

Yep, I already see that thread last week, you can also take a 8mm/5/16 allen socket retainer, it have less slope as the normal socket have a lot of slope.


You can also heat a piece of steel to the right temp and quickly take a 8mm allen pin and punch it through the hole........ etc....

A little uppdate on the TT, as discussed in other thread, I made new shock tower in carbon fiber, not for the look, not for the weight saving, I choose this material to make something different than working with aluminum.......The goal is to adapt the new suspension, I used longer rear shock and widened the rear width.

I don't have much time to play with the buggy, but I take some time to at least begin to built the pipe.Here some pics of the prototype, I have to double check some calcul, the final result will be a little different, but something like this.
