Ok folks, I need to calculate what kinda gearing we need on the 2 speed setup. I'm aiming for the following 1st and 2nd speed:

MT 1st 27/33

MT 2nd 31/29

TT 1st 29/31

TT 2nd 33/27

Let me know what you think. Also if you have any suggestions on gearing please post what motor, pipe, and tires you are running.

TT 1st 29/31

TT 2nd 33/27

Sounds good to me

I am running ESP 4-Bolt Modified/ESP CHAMPIONSHIP PORTED 36mm Zenoah 30.5cc with lighten flywheel and soon to have 36mm Lightened Piston also running DDM side Dom and Proline Bowties.

To keep costs down the 1st and 2nd speed pinion and spurs ratios will be static. The teeth difference between the pinions will be 4 teeth. For example:

1st speed = 18/38

2nd speed = 22/34

What will change will be the C and D gears to pull both the 1st and 2nd speed up or down in ratio. So let's say we have the following setup:

Sample Gearing for MT

1st speed = 18/38

2nd speed = 22/34

C/D gear = 35/21

Final 1st speed ratio = 1.266 = stock 27/33/25/25 gears

Final 2nd speed ratio = .927 = stock 31/29/25/25 gears

So let's push the C/D gearing up a notch for the TT:

Sample Gearing TT #1

1st speed = 18/38

2nd speed = 22/34

C/D gear = 37/19

Final 1st speed ratio = 1.084 = stock 30/30/25/25 gears

Final 2nd speed ratio = .794 = stock 33/27/25/25 gears

Here's a ratio good for the MCD and wheelies for the Rampage TT/MT

Sample Wheelie King Gearing

1st speed = 18/38

2nd speed = 22/34

C/D gear = 32/24

Final 1st speed ratio = 1.583 = stock 24/36/25/25 gears

Final 2nd speed ratio = 1.159 = stock 28/32/25/25 gears

i think for now as a first set up you should come up with a ready set kit something standart and as production kicks in than you should consider diferent gearing options! sot like the hpi baja's but as i am runing a esp30.5cc ported i think all metal gears are a must!

but some acceleration combined with some real kicking but top speed wouldn't hurt!

with racing my MT I would keep low, 24/36 first speed and 27/33 for second if it can't handle 29/31, just a thought,lol....

I'm liking the gear ratios for the MT Demon i cannot wait to get the 2 speed set up how close till release day? i'm currently running 31/29/26/24 with a Dog pile racing "wildchild" 29.5cc and Baja 5B rears all around with a CPI Pipe.

Oooh, the Wildchild 29.5 is a great engine. A couple guys at the track run em and they are fast.

We are still waiting on the machine shops to cut the new 2 speed design. We have some of the parts but are still waiting on gears. It'll be a few weeks before we get everything for final R&D. After that we will put in the production order. I would guestimate late summer.

Those won't be released untill we are finished revising the prototypes.

Most definitely first gear lower for Wheelies. Wheelies are the only thing I miss from running nitros. The antisipation is killing me! Just can't wait.
