HPI 8000rpm clutch spring and stock XT shoes

The engine should rev higher with the 8k spring before it takes off then with the stock spring. Did you check the grub screws on the square for the gears? on the clutch bell maybe they are slipping. When you put back the shoes did you install the wavy washer and the flat washer right?

Yes it fits. Bolts right in.

Double check the install. Make sure the clutch is installed correctly and in the right direction. The clutch CAN be reversed, but you'll bog with a stock engine. Also, it's an XT, how are your bearings? Does the vehicle roll freely when you push it across the floor? Basically, check for binding in the drivetrain.

Also, anytime you make changes to the engine, you need to re-tune it. If you don't find any issues with the install, or with the drivetrain, try starting from the base carb settings and re-tune.
