Only starts with choke on

Hey guys, I recently had an issue with my MT where it wouldn't start after an hour of running it the first time out of the box. Since then I was able to get it started and went back to breaking the motor in. Last night i go to start it and as usual I put the choke in the down position pull the cord a few times and it actually started, so I go to put the choke in the up position and it dies instantly. I tried starting it with the choke in the closed position and nothing, as soon as I open it up it will start but dies when I close the choke. I tried opening both LSN & HSN to see if that would work but nothing. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

The choke is supposed to be open not close
Thanks I got home today and it fired right up. I'm in Florida and it was beyond humid last night would that play into it not starting?

The down position of the choke (closed) is for starting the engine. Then it needs to be in the up position (opened).

However I wonder if you are not having venting issues. Open your fuel tank next time the issue happens again. If it runs fine, you will need to vent your tank.

So I took the cap off the fuel tank before I tried starting it thinking maybe I cracked the tank and after i put the cap on there were no issues. It's a moody ass truck that's for sure haha. Thanks for all the help glad I joined this forum there is so much help on here.

Surely looks like a venting issue. When you opened the tank you vented it which allowed the truck to start and run. But you will need to find a permanent venting solution or the issue will happen again.

Well I haven't had that problem, but I did take the gas cap off, take the rubber gasket off and make sur the vent piece is movable, put them back together and see if its better, it worked for me. Hope this helps. And I have had other problems with my Rampage, I called Redcat and they helped, but this forum is my numbe 1 go to place!!!

You can a fuel tank vent kit from DDM.

Perso I just made the hole on the cap (all the way through the stock rubber breather) bigger and inserted a fuel line tube (just pass the cap only) with a 1 way valve on the outside end.
